How has conglomeration changed the movie and television industry?

Before conglomeration, there was more artistic independence in Hollywood. Each studio could have its own feudal way of running things as opposed to the primary control of media output belonging to four massive conglomerates. You could argue that there was more originality because it was just as much about the product as the profit. Now conglomerates put out whatever they think will bring in the most revenue. Usually they also try to hold up a certain image, which will limit the use of creativity.
Although at the same time conglomeration has helped improve the quality of production because they control many of the steps necessary to create a film. This helps the process because they have to go through fewer channels. They also have more funding which allows them to expand on more levels of medium. Conglomeration has overall been a beneficiary to film, but sometimes it is at the price of genuine creativity.
