Conglomeration and the movie industry

Conglomeration has changed the movie and television industry in both positive and negative ways. It allows for both industries to be monitored more effectively. If there is a show with poor ratings or that is wildly inappropriate at a certain time, it can be taken off the air or changed. This process can take place a lot sooner than if it was left for an individual station to work on it alone. Sometimes, however, conglomeration can hurt the industry. Before it began, there was more freedom for the artists. Both the artists and the companies could figure out what they wanted to present, and present that. With conglomeration, a station ma force an artist to 'be a certain way'. The major companies are trying to attract a particular group and if the artist doesn't fit that genre than they are changed. Conglomeration is both good and bad for media industries.
