How has conglomeration changed the movie and television industry?

In todays movie and television industry there are a few companies that run the business entirely. There are little to no independent companies anymore. A conglomerate most nearly means a corporation that has sub companies that it controls. These companies are all under the direction of the main company. In the movie industry there's Warner Brothers, MGM, Disney, 21st Century Fox, and Paramount pictures who essentially run the industry. In TV there's CBS, FOX, NBC, and ABC. These four stations air almost every popular show and important event like the Super Bowl or World Series. There are no independent companies anymore so all the decision making and choices are made by the large corporations. This is a change from the past. Conglomerates have altered the industry and in some respects improved it. Now that they have control over most things they can make sure there are no problems. If a show is not getting good ratings they can take it off the air whenever they want. Overall, conglomerates have changed both the TV and movie industry for the better.
